Captain Shel

Captain ShelCaptain Shel(don) Miller graduated from the University of Vermont with a liberal arts degree (Philosophy major). He learned to sail on nearby Lake Champlain in a small, open catamaran. Later going on to create a home design/build business then came to Florida some twenty years ago after becoming a licensed U.S. Coast Guard captain. In 1989 Captain Shel bought a 46 foot boat and did sailing charters to the Florida Keys and The Bahamas. In 1993 he became a certified ASA sailing instructor and has certified hundreds of students since. Currently, he is qualified to instruct ASA levels 101, 103, 104, 105, 106, & 114.

Captain Shel is an instructor with Blue Water Sailing School and also does private sailing instruction. ASA certifications earned are through Blue Water Sailing School.

Captain Shel has logged many thousands of miles while under sail. He has plied the waters of western Mexico and California, southern New England, the east coast of the U.S., the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Florida, and The Bahamas. One day Captain Shel would like to return to the Med. and sail the Greek and Turkish islands.
