Private Sailing School

Captain Shel (Shel's bio) of SchoolofSailing.net is available to come to you and provide private sailing instruction onboard your own boat. This would be at your convenience and choice of location. If you do have a boat the big advantage is in learning on your own vessel. You will gain valuable knowledge about your boat's sailing and handling characteristics. Also, it may be more convenient than traveling to a marina based sailing school.

With the private school option we can focus on details pertaining to you and provide concentration in areas that are most important to meeting your goals.

Perhaps it's just you and your spouse who want to polish your skills and extend your learning experience. Or, you may have children who want to participate. All this is available through our private school program.

Approximate cost for the private sailing school is $500/day on your boat or a boat that is chartered. You choose location, time, and itinerary. The number of students can be anywhere from 1 to 6 depending on the size of the boat and accommodations.

Please call our affiliate, Blue Water Sailing School at: 800 255-1840 to learn how you can take advantage of our private school with Captain Shel.

Certifications are available for the following ASA classes:

All ASA certifications are through Blue Water Sailing School. If you are interested in a marina based sailing school and would like to participate with others during your classes then check out our sailing schools page.

In the winter of 2007 Captain Shel traveled to Trinidad for a private sailing school with John & Cheri aboard their yacht 'Mystique' a Tayana 55. Here Cheri is at the helm as we leave to cruise the outer islands:

On Biscayne Bay Tom W. is at the helm of our Gib'Sea 51. In Tom's words: "Captain Miller, or Shel as he likes to be called, was my instructor for my ASA 104 certification. His training and seamanship were terrific and on a much higher level than in my previous courses. The sail from Ft. Lauderdale to Biscayne Bay provided many opportunities for Shel to demonstrate sailing techniques and instruct the crew on how to handle the Gib’Sea 51. It was a great experience and I would recommend him to anyone wanting to increase their sailing skills.
